H.E THE AMBASSADOR ATTENDS TOKYO FUKUNO-KAI "SEMPUKU" GATHERING

H.E. Ambassador Benson H. O. Ogutu joined the members of Fukono-kai at one of their regular meetings held on 5th February at Meiji Kinenkan. Fukuno-kai is an organization of lovers of "Sempuku" sake. It was established in 1959 and has now more than 500 members. Fukuno-kai holds its meetings three (3) times a year. Such occasions provide forums for interaction amongst members and opportunities to share views on matters of common interest as well exchange ideas on Fukuno-kai's societal relevance and responsibilities. The Forum also welcomes guest speakers who have wealth knowledge of business and professional experience to share with members in attendance.

In his address, the Ambassador welcomed the ideals of the organization, in particular as pertains to promotion of closer people-to-people relations and better international understanding.

"Sempuku" is the leading sake brand produced by Sempuku Brewery based in Kure City, Hiroshima Prefecture. It was founded in 1886 (and subsequently established in 1925). The President is Mr. Kiyotsugu Miyake.

As part of his own private endeavours, Mr. Kiyotsugu Miyake established NPO Garissa in 1999. Its main activities in Kenya are geared towards medical assistance, environment conservation and access to education for the needy and underprivileged in Garissa, Kenya.
