KENYA NATIONAL WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL TEAM AT FIVB WORLD CUP IN JAPAN

The 2011 FIVB Women’s World Cup was held in Japan from 4th -18th November, 2011. The tournament was the first step in the qualification process for the 2012 summer Olympics to be held in London. The Kenya National Women’s Volleyball team, which had won at least seven Africa Championships, participated in the tournament. The team was participating for the sixth times in the FIVB World Cup. The team had also participated in 2000 and 2004 Olympic Games in Sydney and Athens respectively.

Hon. Peter Kenneth, Assistant Minister for Planning, national Development and Vision 2030 and H.E. Amb. Benson H.O. Ogutu joined the team during their game with the Japan National Women’s Volley team at Yoyogi Stadium in Tokyo on 16th November, 2011. While addressing the team after the match, the Hon. Assistant Minister applauded the players for representing the country and Africa at large in the 2011 World Cup.
