Honda Motors establishes a new plant in Kenya

The Honda Motors Co., Ltd. has announced that it has recently established a new plant in Kenya on March 25, 2013. The new subsidiary will be dealing with a motorcycle production line and sales function for Honda motor cycles in Kenya. The new factory is expected to start operations in September, 2013 with an initial capacity of 25,000 units per year. The new Honda Company in Kenya will be the third Honda establishment in Sub-Sahara Africa following a similar plant in South Africa and Nigeria.

In terms of production, the new company in Kenya will be the second biggest Honda production base following its counterpart based in Nigeria. This will bring the annual production capacity for Honda motorcycles in Africa to 175 000 units with the combined output from Kenya and Nigeria.
Welcoming the above development, the Ambassador of Kenya in Japan His Excellency Benson Ogutu observed that the establishment of the Honda facility in Kenya is a testament to the government's efforts to provide a conducive environment of foreign direct investments in Kenya. Amb. Ogutu wishes the Honda Company and its clients in Kenya a strong, rewarding and enduring partnership.
