H.E. AMB. OGUTU PARTICIPATES IN THE ANNUAL PANKA SHIMBUN GOLF TOURNAMENT - 17TH APRIL, 2013

On 17th April, 2013, H.E. Ambassador Ogutu presided over the award giving ceremony at the Annual Panka Shimbun Golf Tournament at Hodogaya Country Club, where he had joined other dignitaries for the event. Among the participants included Mr.Tetsuro Yano; President, AFRECO and other top business executives associated with the bakery and food processing & distribution industries.

In his remarks on behalf of the participating Diplomatic Corps, the Ambassador expressed his colleagues' appreciations to the host, Mr. Koji Sugata for the kind invitation and interest to integrate the diplomatic corps in their activities. He further underscored the existing potential for increased collaboration between Japan and Africa in varied fields particularly in the key sectors of agri-business and manufacturing. The two (2) key sectors if well exploited, would form the much needed job creation for the youth and substantially sustain the economies of African countries.

Panka Shimbun, is a Japanese Bread & Cake publishing company that has been monitoring and reporting about the world bread industry since its establishment in 1947. Its mission is to improve the Japanese bread industry by incorporating new viewpoints from various stakeholders, while maintaining its original quality products tradition. The company publishes "Japan Bread and Cake Newspaper" on a monthly basis, "News Flash, Bakery Information" weekly, and "Bakery Industry" monthly. It also holds yearly overseas inspection tours as well as organizes Seminars several times a year.

Over the years, the management of Panka Shimbun has collaborated with Kenya and other African Missions in various promotional activities of its products.
