On 19th April, 2013, H.E. Ambassador Ogutu presided over the 45th anniversary of the Kitano Art Museum in Nagano Prefecture. Other dignitaries in attendance included Ms. Takatsukasa; the Main Nun Zenkuji Temple, Ms. Rose Charlton among other business and Government executives.

The Kitano Art Museum was opened in March 1968 by the Kitano Family with an objective to contribute to the improvement of local culture in Nagano.

The Museum is a Sister entity to Kitano Cultural Center that will be hosting the Kenya's Children Art Exhibition from May-August 2013 with an aim of promoting Kenyan culture and deeper people to people interactions between Japan and Kenya.

In his remarks, the Ambassador underscored the warm and cordial relations between Japan and Kenya as underpinned by mutually beneficial cooperation and partnerships in various sectors such as agriculture, environment, health, infrastructure, education and trade. He further underlined the fact that Kenya is keen on cultivating people to people relations in pursuit to augmenting the already existing Government to Government good relations. Thus encouraged the Japanese people to embrace cultural and other exchanges that would foster stronger interactions.

The Ambassador further thanked the Kitano Cultural Centre Management for their resolve to partner with the Kenya Embassy in the promotion of Kenya's Children Art, which is scheduled on 8th June, 2013, in Nagano. This is no doubt a big impetus in advancing people to people exchanges.
