Kenyan Musicians and Ms. Eriko Mukoyama aka Anyango entertain guests at the Carnivore Restaurant on 26th August, 2013

Sunworld Air Service Corp; the Kenya Airways, Ground Service Agent in Japan; in collaboration with Foundation for the supporters for United Nations UPS, Finch Travel, and the Kenya Embassy in Japan organized inaugural Japan-Kenya Goodwill charity events on 25th and 26th August, 2013 that were successfully held in Kisumu and Nairobi respectively.

The two days' programme was aimed at strengthening friendship ties between Japan and Kenya while celebrating 50 years of Kenya's independence and Kenya-Japan relations. It is noteworthy that whereas there have been numerous Government-Government related sports & cultural exchanges between Kenya and Japan, this was the first exchange programme to be spearheaded and coordinated purely by private entities. A commendable initiative towards enhancing people to people relations between the two countries.

In his message about the programme, His Excellency Amb. Benson Ogutu; noted that the events will greatly contribute to the enduring cordial and mutually beneficial relations between Japan and Kenya. More importantly, they would significantly serve to demonstrate the increasing role of sports & cultural collaborations in fostering greater understanding and strengthening of bilateral relations between the two countries.

The events attracted participants from both private and Government related agencies including Kenya Government officials; the Japanese Embassy in Kenya; the Japan International Cooperation Agency in Nairobi (JICA); Kenya Embassy to Japan- represented by His Excellency Amb. Benson Ogutu; and the music industry. Hon. Dr. Hassan Wario Arero the Cabinet Secretary of Sports, Culture and the Arts; graced the highlight of the programme that ended with a musical concert at the Carnivore restaurant on 26th August 2013.
