H.E. Mr. Benson H.O. Ogutu greets participants during the charity concert in support of the Kenya Water Project: 23rd January, 2014

H.E. the Ambassador was among the guests who attended a charity concert in support of the Kenya Water Project. The event, organized by the Rotary Club (RC) of Tokyo Hiroo, was held at the German Speaking Protestant Church in Shinagawa, Tokyo on 23rd January 2014.

The Rotary Club of Hiroo Tokyo had been undertaking community development activities in Kenya through their support to International Water Projects – IWP, a Japanese nonprofit organization involves in provision of fresh and clean water in rural communities in Kenya using Kazusabori Technology (a Japanese original and unique technology of digging deep water wells by hand). The Club has hitherto solely funded construction of fourteen (14) Wells in Kenya in the past five (5) years. In August 2013, members of the RC of Tokyo Hiroo visited Kenya to assess the 14 wells. The Club plans to construct another three (3) more wells in 2014.

The Ambassador thanked the Club for their kind support, which goes a long way to supplementing the Government's efforts in addressing the challenges of clean water in rural areas in Kenya.
