KENYA NATIONAL RUGBY SEVENS TEAM AT 2014 HSBC TOKYO TOURNAMENT

Kenya vs. Australia during the Tokyo Rugby Sevens tournament at Prince Chichibu Memorial Rugby Ground in Tokyo on 23rd March, 2014

The Kenya National Rugby Sevens Team was among the Sixteen Rugby Sevens Teams that participated in the 2014 HSBC Tokyo Sevens Tournament. The tournament took place at Price Chichibu Memorial Stadium in Tokyo on 22nd – 23rd March, 2014.

On the first day of the match, the team took on South Africa before beating Argentina 24-7 and Japan 12-7 to qualify for the tournament's Main Cup quarterfinal for the first time since the Japan leg was added to the circuit in 2012. On the second day, Kenya was relegated to the Plate semi finals with Australia after suffering 43-19 in the hands of Fiji in the Main cup quarter-final.

The performance in Tokyo saw the team get ten (10) points, raising the total points of the team to fifty seventy (57) points. Kenya is now ranked seventh (7th) in the IRB World Series.
