JAMHURI DAY CELEBRATIONS 12TH DECEMBER, 2014, AT TOKYO MARRIOT HOTEL

H.E. Amb. Hiroyasu Kobayashi, Ambassador in Charge of Regional Economic Communities, Peace and Security in Africa , delivers a statement on behalf of the Government of Japan during Kenya National Day Celebtarions

The Embassy hosted a formal reception to celebrate Jamhuri day on 12th December, 2014 at the Hotel Marriot, Tokyo. This successful event attracted more than 300 guests including top Japanese Government officials, over 80 embassies and members of the diplomatic corps based in Japan, the Japanese business representatives as well the Kenyan diaspora.

The Guest of Honour, His Excellency Ambassador Hiroyasu Kobayashi; Ambassador in Charge of Regional Economic Communities, Peace & Security in Africa, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, of Japan graced the occasion as the representative of the Governement of Japan. In his remarks, Amb. Kobayashi reiterated Japanese commitment in strengthening strategic partnerships with Kenya with a focus on infrastructure and energy development in the context of regional Economic Communities and TICAD framework. Amb. Kobayashi also emphasized the need for concerted global efforts in the fight against terrorism in the Horn of Africa region.

The Embassy also published more information on Kenya-Japan relations in two Japanese dailies (The Japan Times and the Japan News). During the event, the guests were also entertained to Kenyan tunes by Ms. Eriko Mukoyama, aka Anyango-san.
