JAMHURI DAY CELEBRATIONS ON 14TH DECEMBER, 2015 AT THE HOTEL MARRIOT, TOKYO

On 14th December, 2015, the Embassy hosted an official reception in celebration of Kenya's 52nd Independence Anniversary (Jamhuri Day) at Hotel Marriot, Tokyo. The successful event attracted approximately 400 guests including: top Japanese Government officials; over 100 Embassies and members of the diplomatic Corps in Japan; the Japanese business community, as well as Kenyan Diaspora in Japan.

The event was graced by Hon. Katsuyuki Kawai, Special Advisor to the Prime Minister of Japan, as the Guest of Honour and representative of the Government of Japan. In his remarks, Hon. Kawai highlighted the growing Kenya-Japan relations. In reference to the TICAD VI Summit which is scheduled to be held in Nairobi, Kenya next year, Hon. Kawai underscored Japan's commitment to its partnership with Africa and indeed its support to Kenya and entire Africa to ensure a successful Summit. The TICAD VI Summit will be the very first TICAD Conference to be held outside Japan since its inception in 1993.

The Embassy also published the Ambassador's message on Kenya-Japan relations and, on TICAD in two Japanese dailies (The Japan News and The Japan Times). During the event, the guests were entertained to Kenyan tunes by Ms. Eriko Mukoyama aka Anyango-San.
