H.E. AMB. S.K. MAINA PRESIDES THE HANDING OVER OF THE FIRST CONSIGNMENT OF FOUR FIRE FIGHTER ENGINES DONATED BY GOVERNMENT OF JAPAN TO THE NAIROBI COUNTY

H.E. S. K.Maina, Kenya's Ambassador to Japan on Monday 9th May 2016, presided over the handing over of four Fire Engines to the Government of Kenya after they were donated by Japanese Fire Association of Japan. The four Fire Engines will be delivered to Nairobi County upon arrival in Nairobi. The four Fire Engines are part of 16 Fire Engines pledged by Japanese Government to Kenya.

Speaking after the handing over ceremony, in the presence of the President of Japan Firefighters Association, Mr.Shinsuke Sato, the Ambassador thanked Japanese Government for the donation and noted the firefighting Engines will go a long way in helping in rescue operations and fire disaster management in Nairobi city. He also thanked Japanese Government for having accepted to facilitate their shipment to Kenya.

The Ambassador also noted that the donation was coming at a time when Nairobi city was gearing towards hosting of TICAD VI Summit in August 2016, the first time this meeting is being held in Africa. The ceremony was also witnessed by Mr. Paul Kaliih, the Deputy Head of Mission, the shipping Agent and officers from Japan fire fighters Association.
