SENATOR TETSURO YANO, PRESIDENT AFRECO PAYS A COURTESY CALL TO H.E. THE AMBASSADOR

On 14th July, 2016, Senator Tetsuro Yano, President of the Association of African Economy and Development in Japan (AFRECO) paid a courtesy call to His Excellency the Ambassador to brief him on the TICAD VI Side Events that AFRECO has organized in collaboration with the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture & Technology (JKUAT).

Hon. Yano informed that the two Institutions have jointly organized three Side Events, including one Pre-TICAD event which is a Student Exchange Programme scheduled on 20th July, 2016 at Waseda University Tokyo.

Other two side Events that will be held on the margins of the TICAD VI Summit are:

The Japan-Africa Student Exchange (Young Africa and Nihon Innovators EXPO (YANIE)- Sustainable Development for the Future World, to be held on 26th , August, 2016 at JKUAT. AFRECO is also planning to separately host a Japanese Doctors Network in Africa, and, Smart City Fora on 25th August, 2016.

Finally the institution will have a Post TICAD VI Students Summit, where students who would have joined TICAD VI, will report on their experience in Nairobi. This is anticipated to be held in July, 2017.

AFRECO, was established in 1960s to promote economic cooperation between Japan and Africa. The Association has been instrumental in strengthening economic partnership, and friendship among Japanese and African people with a view to contributing to mutual prosperity.
