Today, 26th August, 2016, His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta received His Excellency Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and his Spouse H.E. Mrs Akie Abe at State House Nairobi, for an elaborate State Reception ahead of the TICAD VI Summit scheduled on 27th -28th August, 2016 in Nairobi.

The Prime Minister's visit began with the laying of a wreath at the Mausoleum of Kenya's founding father, the Late Mzee Jomo Kenyatta, and thereafter proceeded to State House where he was received by His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta alongside the First Lady Margaret Kenyatta, and several Cabinet Secretaries. The prime Minister was also honored by the 19-Gun Salute, and, inspection of the Guard of Honour mounted by the detachment of Kenya Air force.

TICAD VI Summit in Nairobi is the very first TICAD to be held outside Japan since its inception in 1993. This is a milestone achievement which indeed demonstrates the fruition of the dual principles of the TICAD process of ownership of African development initiatives by Africa, and promotion of Africa's global partnership, which underpinned its formation 23 years ago.

The two leaders are set to officially open the TICAD VI Summit tomorrow 27th August, 2016 at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre.
