H.E. THE AMBASSADOR’S COURTESY CALL ON HON. HIROMICHI WATANABE, MINISTER FOR RECONSTRUCTION

His Excellency Ambassador S.K.Maina, M.B.S. paid a courtesy call on Hon. Hiromichi Watanabe, Minister for Reconstruction in his office on Friday 14th December, 2018. During the visit, the Ambassador congratulated the Minister on his new appointment, briefed him on the just concluded International Conference on Blue Economy held on 26-28 November, 2018 in Nairobi that was co- hosted by Japan and Kenya. The Ambassador also briefed the Minister on the scheduled Sakura tree planting ceremony to be held at the Embassy Chancery on Thursday 20th December, 2018 that will be presided over by Senior Officials from Fukushima Prefecture.

The tree were recently donated by Fukushima Prefecture in recognition of Kenya Government’s solidarity with the peoples of Japan following the March, 2011 Great East Earthquake, that triggered a Tsunami and nuclear accident leading to loss of lives and property. Kenya Government gave a donation of USD 1 million to assist victims of the disaster.
