Members of Faculty of National Defense Colleague (NDC) and course participants visited Japan as from 13th – 20th April, 2019. The Delegation was led by Maj Gen. Andrew Ikenye, Commandant, National Defense College (NDC). Other participants were drawn from various African countries. While in Tokyo, the delegation visited various Ministries, Japan National Institute of Defense Studies, Shirai Eco-center, NEC Company before departing for Yamato Maritime Museum in Kure city and later Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum where the Head of delegation laid a wreath in Memory of victims of 1945 Atomic Bomb. The delegation later paid courtesy call on H. W. Kazumi Matsui, Mayor of Hiroshima city.
During the meeting with Amb. Yasuyoshi Komizo, the chairperson of the Hiroshima Peace Culture Foundation, Mr. Komizo took cognizance that, four Kenyan cities are members of ‘Mayors for Peace’ Association that could be used to forge closer cultural cooperation with the city.
He pledged a donation of seedlings of ‘Peace tree’ to be planted at UNEP-Habitat Headquarters in Nairobi in recognition of Kenya’s commitment to Global peace and security and environmental conservation. The delegation Later visited Kenya Honorary Consulate at Toyota Tsusho Corporation in Nagoya City and Toyota Commemorative Museum of Industry & Technology.
