KENYA PARTICIPATED IN THE WORLD SPECIALTY COFFEE CONFERENCE & EXHIBITION (SCAJ2025)

8th October 2025

Several Kenyan companies participated in the World Specialty Coffee Conference & Exhibition (SCAJ2025), held at Tokyo Big Sight, further strengthening its reputation as one of the world’s premier origins of specialty coffee.

The event, which was organized by the Specialty Coffee Association of Japan (SCAJ), is the largest coffee trade fair in Asia, attracting thousands of industry professionals, including roasters, baristas, importers, equipment makers, and coffee enthusiasts from across the globe.

Kenya’s participation was coordinated under the banner “Kenya Coffee”, featuring a national booth that highlighted the country’s rich coffee heritage, diverse growing regions, and globally acclaimed cup profiles. Mr. David Ivongo from the Coffee Directorate of the Agricultural and Food Authority led the Kenyan team to undertake various promotional activities at the Kenya Pavilion.

Japan is one of Kenya’s most important markets for specialty coffee. Through SCAJ2025, Kenya strengthened direct engagement with Japanese buyers, cafés, and roasters, aiming to expand market share and build long-term partnerships. At least 10 Japanese companies exhibited Kenya’s coffee, depicting the market source, including NAOMI Coffee by Fcoffeeroasters, Coffee County, etc.

During the interaction with Amb. Moi Lemoshira, the Kenyan companies thanked the Embassy for the very active engagement in the promotion of Kenyan coffee in Japan. The representatives further underscored the need for Kenya to establish an international warehouse in Japan to coordinate the importation of Kenyan coffee to Japan.
