On 25th November 2025, the Ambassador graced the Japan Used Motor Vehicle Exporters Association (JUMVEA) Year-End Party held at Daiichi Hotel Tokyo. In his remarks, the Ambassador expressed appreciation for the continued partnership between Kenya and JUMVEA. He noted that the used cars industry remains a strong pillar of Japan’s economic ties with Kenya and many African countries, highlighting that used car business contributes to employment opportunities in Kenya. At the same time the country faces challenges of frauds and scams that lead to losses to many buyers in which JUMVEA has been instrumental by providing legitimate companies. He further noted that the used cars industry will grow with technology transfer in managing of End of Life of Vehicles.
The event brought together industry leaders, government officials, including the Honourable Satsuki KATAYAMA, Minister for Finance, Japan, and association members to celebrate achievements over the past year and look forward to further growth and cooperation in 2026.
This engagement underscores Kenya’s commitment to nurturing strong Economic and Trade relations with Japan while supporting a vibrant and responsible automotive industry.
The Ambassador was accompanied by Mr. David Yaa, Second Secretary and Ms. Naoko Yagi, Trade Assistant from the Embassy.
