10th September 2026

On Thursday, September 3rd 2026, Ambassador Moi Lemoshira represented the Embassy at the 9th Japan Construction International Awards Ceremony in Japan, which recognised outstanding overseas infrastructure projects and initiatives involving Japanese construction companies.
Two projects with relevance to Kenya were among the recognised initiatives:
(i) SPEC Company Limited, which received recognition under the Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) Category for its overseas construction activities.
(ii) Daiken, recognised under the Pioneering Activity Category for its Japanese-origin rainwater harvesting infrastructure, demonstrating the application of innovative Japanese technology to sustainable water resource management.
The Embassy congratulates the award recipients and appreciates the Government of Japan, through the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT), for its continued support in strengthening cooperation between Kenya and Japan in the construction and infrastructure sectors.
The recognition of Kenya-related projects in the awards underscores the growing Kenya–Japan partnership in infrastructure development, technology transfer and sustainable solutions.
