On Tuesday, 29th September, the Embassy held a meeting with Mr. Reiko Kurihara of Shionogi & Co., Ltd to strengthen cooperation in antimicrobial resistance (AMR), infectious diseases and healthcare. The discussions highlighted Shionogi’s ongoing collaboration in Kenya, including the Antimicrobial Stewardship Project, aimed at promoting appropriate use of antibiotics and strengthening healthcare capacity.

The meeting also explored opportunities to expand collaboration to additional hospitals, improve monitoring and training, and explore further initiatives in malaria prevention and maternal and child health. Amb. Moi Lemoshira thanked the company for its support to Kenya and expressed commitment to further collaboration on healthcare systems, innovation and sustainable health solutions in Kenya. Also present were Ms. Maki Hayase and Mikiya Takeuchi of Shionogi and Mr. David Yaa, First Secretary.
