H.E. Amb. Tabu Irina, MBS attended the plenary session of the 2nd Japan Africa Public-Private Economic Forum (JAfEF) which was held on 3rd May, 2022 in Nairobi. The Forum was co-chaired by the Government of Japan and Kenya, led by Ms. Betty Maina, Cabinet Secretary of the Ministry of Industrialization, Trade and Enterprise Development of Kenya and H.E. Mr. Kenichi Hosoda, State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan and H.E. Ms. Takako Suzuki, State Minister of Foreign Affairs Japan.
The Forum was attended by 9 Ministerial level representatives from 14 African countries with total 250 participants from Public and Private sectors. During the forum, 18 MOUs were announced in the area including Healthcare, Manufacturing, Green Energy and Human Resource development.
On the side-lines of the 2nd JAfEF, bilateral meetings were held between Cabinet Secretaries for Industrialization, Trade and Enterprise Development Kenya as well as Foreign Affairs Kenya and State Ministers of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and Ministry of Foreign Affairs Japan.
Multi-Stakeholder meeting was also held between H.E. Mr. Kenichi Hosoda, State Minister for Economy, Trade and Industry and Hon. Zachary O. Ayieko, Chief Administrative Secretary for Energy to discuss MOU and other mutually beneficial projects including Green Energy, Dongo Kundu's SEZ development and Green Minerals. The meeting was attended by Mr. Andrew N. Kamau CBS, PS for Petroleum & Mining, Amb. Peter Kaberia, CBS, PS for State Department for Industrialization, H.E. Mr. Ken Okaniwa, Ambassador of Japan to Kenya, H.E. Ms. Tabu Irina, MBS, Ambassador of Kenya to Japan, Mr. Jun Karube, Chairman of Japan Business Federation and Honorary Consul of Kenya in Nagoya and Mr. Mutsuo Iwai, Chairman of Japan Association of Corporate Executives and Mr. Kazushige Nobutani, the President of Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO).
