On 27^th January 2025, Mr. Hitoshi Iijima, Senior General Manager of Saitama Panasonic Wild Knights Rugby Club visited the Embassy and was received by Amb. Moi Lemoshira. At the outset, Amb. Lemoshira and Mr. Iijima shared their respective rugby careers and exchanged views on the contributions of rugby to society. The two underscored the existing potential for strengthening Kenya-Japan relations through rugby and discussed areas of cooperation for mutual benefit between Kenya and Saitama Panasonic Wild Knights.

Amb. Lemoshira sought support for more opportunities for Kenyan players to join professional rugby in Japan. The Ambassador also noted that the promotion of Tag Rugby would further contribute to the development of rugby in Kenya. He paid tribute to Prof. Mihara, Director of Japanese School in Nairobi for his contribution for Tag Rugby in Kenya. Mr. Iijima briefed that the Club will be dispatching relevant officials for talent scouting in Kenya later this year and requested for support of the Embassy. He invited the Ambassador to visit Panasonic Wild Knights Headquarters at the Kumagaya Rugby Stadium for follow up discussions on possible collaboration and to watch the team play.

Ambassador Lemoshira thanked Mr. Iijima for the keen interests the Club has on Kenya and assured of support to recruit players from Kenya.
