On behalf of Staff and Kenyans in Japan and on that of my own, we extend our best wishes to the Tokyo Marathon Foundation as the marathon fraternity gathers in this beautiful city on Sunday March 2, 2025 for the 2025 Tokyo Marathon. The event marks 18 years of building awareness on public health values and as a conduit of friendliness in humanity through the sporting act of running.
We welcome and wish the very best for Kenyan elite runners led by men defending Champion Benson Kipruto who achieved a personal best of 2:02:16 and Ms. Rosemary Wanjiru who was second in 2024 at a personal best time of 2:16:14. Others are Vincent Ngetich (2:03:13; 2nd Berlin, 2023), Titus Kipruto 2:04:54, 2nd Amsterdam 2022) and Goffrey Toroitich (59:13, 1st Malaga Half, 2023). The women contingent also include Ms. Moraa Moseti (2:18:25, 2nd Hamburg, 2024) and Ms. Magdalyne Masai (2:18:58, 2nd Frankfurt, 2024).
The Embassy team will be there to cheer and celebrate with you, Kenya’s unrelenting Ambassadors who remain at the top in promoting Kenya through your sporting prowess. May you prevail against the expected competition from other elite runners led by top runners from our sisterly nations of Ethiopia and Uganda, and certainly the host nation, Japan.
The Embassy is also proud of the 15 Kenyan runners leading the 31 group of highly acclaimed pacemakers for the Marathon. These are part of Kenya’s experienced runners whose tact and speed will inspire the spirit of the Tokyo marathon. We wish them a bountiful Fastlane race.
We encourage the Kenyans in Japan and running fraternity to come out and cheer the participants and support the Tokyo Marathon as part of building the shared values of humanity. The Embassy looks forward to continue forging partnership with the Japanese sporting society so as to elevate the place of sports in building people to people relations.
