CLOSING CEREMONY OF SAKURA SCIENCE HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAM 2025, AUGUST 22

On 22nd August 2025, Amb. (Pst.) Arthur Amaya Andambi, Deputy Head of Mission at the Kenya Embassy in Tokyo attended the closing ceremony of the 2025 Sakura Science High School Program. The Programme which is organised by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) brings on board students from developing countries to learn various aspects of science and technology from Japan. JST inter alia focuses on events that significantly impact society by using R & D leading to innovation and addressing varied economic and social issues.

This year’s program brought on board participants from Kenya, Egypt, India, Nigeria, South Africa, and Zambia. Kenya had four high school students and two supervisors. One of the students made a speech during the closing ceremony and emphasized on how the program had been beneficial to them. The Kenyan students also performed a skit educating people on the meaning of colours in our national flag.
