On 1 July 2026, the Embassy hosted a delegation from the first batch of the Japan-Africa Youth Program at the Chancery. Ambassador Lemoshira welcomed the group, consisting of 24 students from Alliance High School and Limuru Girls School, accompanied by their teachers. The delegation toured the Embassy and later participated in an interactive session with Embassy staff.

Also present from the Embassy was Amb. Arthur Andambi, Deputy Head of Mission; Ms. Jennifer Njuguna, First Counsellor; Mr. Wellington Muli, Immigration Attaché and Ms. Kanako Sugai, Tourism Assistant. They shared insights on education, culture, immigration, and other areas, while encouraging the students to make the most of this valuable opportunity for learning, exchanging views, and building lasting connections as the next generation of leaders.

The Japan-Africa Youth Program is implemented based on the Yokohama Declaration adopted at the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9) held in August 2025. This program aims to build a network that will enable young people from Japan and Africa, who are the leaders of the next generation, to work together as equal partners to shape the future.
