The Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government has launched and commenced a Rapid Results Initiative (RRI) to clear the backlog of applications for issuance of Citizenship and Permanent Residence. The programme will end on 31st July, 2021.

RRI targets the following groups;

• Kenyan citizens who hold dual citizenship
• Kenyans who had renounced or lost their Kenyan Citizenship before promulgation of new constitution
• Spouses of Kenyan citizen
• Investors who have applied for Citizenship and Permanent Residence

To apply for Kenyan Citizenship or Permanent Residence, applications are submitted online on https://fns.immigration.go.ke. After application, hard copies should be submitted to Kenya Embassy Tokyo, 3-24-3, Yakumo, Meguro-ku TOKYO 152-0023 for onward transmission to Immigration Headquarters- Nairobi. Citizenship applications can also be emailed directly to, kenya.citizenship@immigration.go.ke.
